On November 11 2017, Roots Crew Soundsystem will host for the first time in Cyprus the legendary selector Ras Digby (UK) for a night of Roots Reggae music.
Ras Digby has been involved into sound system culture for over 40 years. As a member of Sir Jessus Sound System (1964-1981) he helped make it one of the most outstanding sound systems of west London. The crew’s strong links with Jamaican producers such as Blacka Morwell, Dudley ‘Ja Man’ Swaby, Channel One, and even Bob Marley and the Wailers kept the Sound ahead of the pack with an inexhaustible supply of exclusive dub plates. In 1974, a stockpile of hot material led to the launch of their own record label, named also Sir Jessus. After 1981 Ras Digby continued his musical journey that includes radio presenting on Beat FM and RJR Radio, as well as singing and songwriting. He still remains perpetually active as selector and toaster on the sound system circuit worldwide with Roots and revival selections.

Το κυπριακό ηχοσύστημα Roots Crew Soundsystem φιλοξενεί για πρώτη φορά στην Κύπρο τον Ras Digby (UK) για μια βραδιά με Roots Reggae μουσική.
Το 1964 ο RAS DIGBY υπήρξε ένα από τα ιδρυτικά μέλη του ηχοσυστήματος Sir Jessus, το οποίο εξελίχθηκε στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του 1970 μέχρι το 1981 σε ένα από τα πιο σημαντικά ηχοσυστήματα του δυτικού Λονδίνου. Οι διασυνδέσεις των μελών του ηχοσυστήματος με Τζαμαϊκανούς παραγωγούς όπως οι Blacka Morwell, Dudley 'Ja Man' Swaby, Channel One, ακόμα και ο Bob Marley and the Wailers, τους έδωσαν προβάδισμα αφού αποτέλεσαν για αυτούς μια ανεξάντλητη πηγή αποκλειστικών εκτελέσεων ‘dub plates’. Το 1974, έχοντας αποκτήσει ένα μεγάλο απόθεμα υλικού, αποφάσισαν να δημιουργήσουν τη δική τους δισκογραφική εταιρεία με το ίδιο όνομα. Τα χρόνια που ακολούθησαν, ο Digby παρέμεινε ενεργός selector και toaster, και παράλληλα παρουσίαζε μουσικές εκπομπές στο Beat FM και στο RJR Radio. Σήμερα παρουσιάζει τις μουσικές του με τον παραδοσιακό τρόπο, με επιλογές μόνο από βινύλια, καθώς και με αποκλειστικές εκτελέσεις (dubplates). Μέσα από τη συνεργασία του με διάφορα ηχοσυστήματα, προωθεί την roots reggae μουσική παγκοσμίως.
